Cultural Homestay International is a cultural exchange organization based out of California that is designated by the Department of State to sponsor five different types of Exchange Programs. For over twenty-five years, CHI has been working to bring students from around the world to the USA to experience American culture, defeat stereotypes and increase international understanding.

One of CHI's newest programs, the J1 Au Pair program is looking for a local coordinator ( APC - Au Pair Coordinator) in the greater Manchester area.

The coordinator position is a part time, independent contractor position where the coordinator is paid per placement that she makes each year.

Coordinators promote the Au Pair program, recruit host families and provide support and assistance to Au Pairs and Host Families during the program year. They act as cultural ambassadors to the young visitors coming to the USA from around the world.

This position is a great position for stay at home mothers as well as retirees who are interested in working with people and learning about new cultures. It is also works well for those who have flexible schedules and truly enjoy working in their community and working with international visitors. Coordinators in the greater Manchester area should be prepared to spend approximately 2-10 hours a week on this position, although it will vary, depending on cluster growth.

Au Pairs are women (and a few men) between the ages of 18 and 26 who come to the USA for twelve months to live as part of an American host family. While here, they provide childcare for the family and have the chance to take classes at local colleges.

This program allows U.S families to not only have affordable childcare but to also introduce new languages and cultures to their children, introducing them at early ages to the international element of daily life in the 21st century.

It also allows Au Pairs from around the world the chance to learn about American culture, create wonderful connections with their new host family and friends, improve their English and gain childcare experience.

Applicants should be organized with a good attention to detail. This coordinator would be responsible for developing the "cluster" of host families and Au Pairs in the greater Manchester area and working with the regional coordinator and main office to ensure that the program continues to run smoothly as it grows.

All coordinators must living within an hour's drive of their families so this is only for applicants living in the Manchester area who are able and willing to travel in a one hour radius of their home.
